The 77 Year Old Chart Pattern

Published on: Minggu, 02 Februari 2014 in , ,
Article Summary: A leading technical analyst of the 1930s created a method for trading that is still applicable today. Learn how to trade market turning points based on Fibonacci retracements and market psychology with the Gartley Pattern.
Many traders ask how a trading method that is 77 years old is applicable today. When you combine timeless tools like Fibonacci Retracements with great risk: reward ratios, it’s easy to see why this method is so popular. If those aspects of a trading method appeal to you, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to the Gartley chart pattern.

What is the Gartley Pattern?
The Gartley pattern is a powerful and multi-rule based trade set-up that takes advantage of exhaustion in the market and provides great risk: reward ratios. The pattern is also known as the “Gartley 222” because the pattern originated from page 222 of H.M. Gartley’s book, Profits in the Stock Market that was published in 1935 and reportedly sold for $1,500 at the time.
The Gartley pattern is based on major turning points or fractals in the market. This pattern plays on trend reversal exhaustion and can be applied to the time frame of your choosing. The other key that makes this pattern unique are the crucial Fibonacci retracements that come together to fulfill the plan.
There is a bullish / long / buying pattern and an equally powerful bearish / short / selling pattern. Much like you would find with a head and shoulders pattern you buy or sell based on the fulfillment of the set up.

Here is a stripped down version of patterns so you can see what the look like without price and time on the chart.
The buy pattern will always look like an "M" with an elongated front let. The sell pattern will always look like a "W" with an elongated front leg.

Gartley Strategy Tools

The three important tools to use on your chart when finding a Gartley are:
Fractals - The important part about trading the Gartley pattern is that you will trace the pattern from turning points or swings in the market. One of the better indicators to trace swings is Fractals. Fractals show up as arrow above swings in price.

Fibonacci Retracements – The Fibonacci retracements will make or break the patterns validity. Below are the specific retracements that make up the pattern. Fibonacci retracement lines are horizontal lines that display support or resistance in a move.
Add Line Tool (Optional) – This tool will allow you to clearly draw connecting points like X to A, A to B, B to C, and C to D for easy measuring.

Gartley Strategy Rules
  • Point B should retrace 0.618 from the XA move.
  • Point D should retrace 0.786 from the XA move and create the entry zone.
  • Point D should be a 1.27 or 1.618 extension of the BC move
  • Point C should retrace anywhere from 0.382 – 0.886 of the AB move.
  • Buy or Sell at point D depending on whether the pattern is bullish or bearish
  • Place stop either below the entry for the tightest or Risk: reward ratio or below Point X.
  • If the market trades through Point X, the Gartley pattern is invalid and you should exit or not take the trade.
When these rules are met, you can find yourself on the cusp of a trade at the Entry Zone. Recognizing these points in the market is truly like riding a bike. Once you get the hang of it, the levels will pop out on the chart to you.
The EURNZD set up an ideal Bearish Gartley Pattern leading into the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Interest Rate Announcement.

Another set up is forming on the EURJPY and has begun to play out. If you liked the set up, you could sell at Point D and place a stop above point X. Point X is the start of the pattern and is an extreme point on the chart.

Closing Tips on Using This Pattern
When trading the Gartley pattern, the pattern is meant to be traded at D only. If you believe a pattern is unfolding but we’re only at point B, be patient and hold off until we get to D. The power of the pattern comes from converging Fibonacci levels of all points from X to D and using the completed pattern for well-defined risk.
Lastly, this can be traded on any time frame you prefer. The reason this method has a stable track record is that it is based on unusual market positions where most traders are afraid to enter. Take advantage of the risk: reward set up available and trade with proper trade size.
This pattern occurs rather frequently. When you get comfortable with using Fibonacci retracements for support and resistance you'll find yourself looking for the points to complete a Gartley pattern. It is very important to watch for the D point to be at 78.6% of the XA leg and to keep your stops rather tight in case the pattern is invalidated.

Happy Trading!

Linear Regression And Time Series Forecast Trading Strategy ( LR_TSF)

Published on: Kamis, 30 Januari 2014 in , ,

Basically it was created by Fx Lion, Then I made some modifications by adding the T3 Levels and Linear Regreassion, to read the PA movements by reading the LR_TSF and T3 Levels, so we can read the forecast not only from LR_TSF but we have to understand the T3 levels it self.

First reaction comes from LR_TSF, then the T3 Level functions,  there is reactions ( almost whole the times ) when PA goes to every single leves. I wrote the tutorials and how to use it here ( sorry it's in my native language Indonesian ) and it's free to download the System and Template.

I have been using this strategy long enough and it's always on my chart to make PA analysis. for my self i don't use it much at the small TF, but we can use it anyway, Combine with your strategy that's fine..and knowing The turning Point area and how strong the trend is important.

It's Credited To Jhon Bysu also, thank's brother for the indicator modifications. ( a lot Of memories right :D )

I don't have no more  activities right there ( Forum ).

Read How To use it, Try it On demo and probably if you are not Indonesian use Google translate :D

Good Luck and Success

Trendline Basic Trading Strategy

Published on: Senin, 20 Januari 2014 in ,
Trend Line is my favourite visual tool, i can use it at any time frames, any currencies. here is the great explanation how to use it, Written by Rob Pasche

A trendline is probably the most basic tool in the technical trader’s toolbox. They are easy to understand and can be used in combination with any other tools you might already be using. By definition, a trendline is a line connecting two or more lows or two or more highs, with the lines projected out into the future.Ideally, traders look at these extended lines and trade on prices reacting around them, either trading a bounce of the trendline.

So, what can we do to make sure the trendlines that we've drawn are sound?

1 – Connect Swing Lows to Swing Lows (or Swing Highs to Swing Highs)
We want to draw a line connecting either two (or more) swing lows or two (or more) swing highs. For those unfamiliar with the term swing highs/lows, we simply mean the peaks and valleys created with zig zagging prices. Once we connect peaks with other peaks or valleys with other valleys, we want to see the line not being broken by any candle between those two points. Take the examples below.

Draw Unbroken Trendlines

(created from FXCM Marketscope 2.0)

In the first image, you will find that we successfully drew a line connecting two swing lows. But, between those two points, the price broke through the line that we drew. This invalidates the trendline.
What we want is what we see in the second image, two swing lows connected together by a line unbroken by price. This is a valid trendline that is ready to be projected out into the future.
Next time price gets near this trendline, we will want to look for a bounce. A convenient way of trading this type of setup is using Entry orders. Entry orders can be set to get you into a trade at a specific price.
I like to set my Entry orders several pips above a support trendline or several pips below a resistance trendline. That way if the price reacts before getting to the trendline, I still have a chance at getting into a trade. You have to remember that if there are many traders looking at the same price to act as support/resistance, there is a chance that orders will be stacked around these levels. If there are enough orders keeping the price from getting to the trendline, the price might not get to you order if it’s placed directly on it.

The More Connecting Points, the Better
You've probably noticed that I have referenced two or morehighs/lows make up a trendline. The reason I mention "or more" is because trendlines can continue to be relevant far out into the future and can be bounced off of several times. As a general rule of thumb, the more times a trendline has been hit and respected with a bounce, the more important the market believes that it is. Like anything, however, trendlines cannot last forever. So after a multitude of bounces, one has to expect a break to eventually occur.
The first reason this is true is that you can draw a line connecting any two points on a chart. Just because there were two distinct highs in the last 50 bars and you drew a line between them doesn't actually mean the line is a valid trendline. What you would have is a potential trendline.
To truly validate a trendline, you need to see the price actually react from a line projected from a trendline drawn based off of two prior points. Essentially, a third high/low is needed to truly solidify a trendline. Once you have this, you can then feel better about looking for opportunities to exploit the market when price reaches the trendline again. While having a third high/low is recommended before looking for a trade, it is not required. Aiming for an entry on point #3 below could work out just fine.

Validate Trendlines
3_Tips_For_Trendline_Trading_body_Picture_3.png, 3 Tips For Trendline Trading
(created from FXCM Marketscope 2.0)
Each time you see the price bounce off the same line, the more likely it is that others are watching it too and are playing the same game you are. This could help you get several good entries in a row, but remember trendlines won't last forever. So you want to make sure you set proper stop losses to get you out quickly if the support/resistance trendline eventually fails.

Buy Bullish Trendlines, Sell Bearish Trendlines
The trend is your friend! This steadfast rule also applies to trading trendlines. For experienced traders, this basically means we should only look to buy at bullish support lines and sell at bearish resistance lines. For traders not into trading jargon, let the following images below explain this to you.

Buying Bullish Support Trendlines
3_Tips_For_Trendline_Trading_body_Picture_2.png, 3 Tips For Trendline Trading
(created from FXCM Marketscope 2.0)
An upward slanting (bullish) trendline means the price has been trending up, so we want to look for buying opportunities. Buying opportunities occur when the price drops down and comes close to the trendline that has caused upward bounces before.

Selling Bearish Resistance Trendlines
3_Tips_For_Trendline_Trading_body_Picture_1.png, 3 Tips For Trendline Trading
(created from FXCM Marketscope 2.0)
A downward slanting (bearish) trendline means the price has been trending down, so we want to look for selling opportunities. Selling opportunities occur when the price moves up and comes close to the trendline that has caused downward bounces before.
Trading only in the direction of the trend well let us exploit potential trendline bounces as efficiently as possible. And while they won't always give us winning trades, the trades that are winners should give us more pips than had we been attempting to place trades against the trend.
(Note: There is also the potential to trade a break of a trendline rather than a bounce, but that is a more advanced technique. This is something to be covered in a future article.)
Connecting the Dots
Coming full circle, trendlines are a very simple tool to use. You are connecting dots on a chart. But hopefully the 3 tips above will help you take drawing trendlines to the next level. Make sure that the lines you draw are connecting two or more highs or two or more lows, but have not been broken by the price between those points. Remember to look for at a 3rd bounce to validate a trendline. Also, make sure you are taking advantage of trading with the trend by looking for buys in bullish markets and sells in bearish markets.
Overall, I hope this makes you more confident in drawing trendlines. Good trading!

The Advantage And Professional trading techniques and trading systems

Published on: Rabu, 15 Januari 2014 in ,

The Cruel Irony of Trading Techniques and Trading Systems

Professional traders already have the knowledge and experience to know which trading techniques and trading systems could be profitable and which trading techniques and trading systems should be avoided, but professional traders are not looking for a new trading technique or trading system (because they are already trading correctly). New traders do not have the knowledge and experience to know which trading techniques and trading systems could be profitable and which trading techniques and trading systems should be avoided, and new traders are exactly the traders who are looking for a new trading technique or trading system (and even worse new traders are often still looking for the holy grail of trading).
How to Determine Which Trading Techniques and Trading Systems Should be Avoided
Trading techniques and trading systems are the methods by which traders perform their market analysis and make their trading decisions (e.g. when to buy and when to sell). Trading techniques are usually used by discretionary traders, and consist of a procedure for determining when and where to make a trade. Trading systems are usually used by system traders, and consist of a set of rules that determine when and where to make a trade. Trading techniques and trading systems come in an endless variety of shapes and sizes, but most trading techniques and trading systems are complete and utter rubbish.
Without the knowledge and experience to determine which trading techniques and trading systems should be avoided, doing so would seem like an impossible task, but the following is some advice that should help new traders avoid choosing a trading technique or trading system that is nothing more than a trading gimmick

Trading Techniques and Trading Systems with Ridiculous Names

Trading techniques and trading systems with ridiculous (i.e. funny, obscure, dramatic) names should always be avoided, because they are so named purely for marketing purposes, not because the name makes them a good trading technique or trading system.

For example, a trading system with a name like "Foolproof Market Predictor Plus" will be one of the worst trading systems ever created, and while it may be a foolproof trading system (as in it will be very easy to follow), it will certainly not be a market predictor, and its use will result in a minus being applied to your trading account rather than a plus.

Trading Techniques and Trading Systems that Only Make Long Trades

Trading techniques and trading systems that only make long trades (or only make short trades, but this is not usually the case) should always be avoided, because even if they are based upon sound theory (which is highly unlikely), they would still only be profitable when the financial market being traded is moving in the appropriate direction (i.e. upwards for a trading technique or trading system that only made long trades, and downwards for a trading technique or trading system that only made short trades).

For example, it is often the case that a trading system that only makes long trades will be marketed using spectacular results, but upon closer inspection the purported spectacular results will only have been so because the financial market being traded happened to be in the middle of the strongest bullish market in its entire history. If the same trading system was traded during a combination of a bullish and bearish market, or in a bearish market, the spectacular results would quickly become unspectacular results (or rather spectacular in the opposite direction).

Packaged Trading Techniques or Trading Systems

Trading techniques and trading systems that are sold as a packaged system (meaning that the basis for the trading technique or trading system is unknown or incomplete) should always be avoided, because the basis for the trading technique or trading system could be based upon anything (quite literally, even random trades).

For example, even if a packaged trading technique or trading system is marketed using profitable results, the profitable results could be based upon an obscure combination of events that happened to exist during a very specific time (e.g. a particular company releasing specific economic data during the second week of March five years ago), and has never existed before that time, and will never exist again after that time.

Obvious Gimmicks

It should go without saying that any trading technique or trading system that is an obvious gimmick should always be avoided, because ... well, because the trading technique or trading system is an obvious gimmick.

For example, a trading system that had a ridiculous name, and that was based upon made up technical indicators, and that recommended not even looking at a chart of the market price movement, would be an obvious gimmick that was designed purely to attract unknowing traders, and should therefore be avoided.
Professional Trading Techniques and Trading Systems

Professional trading techniques and trading systems do not have ridiculous names (if they even have a name at all), they do not make trades in only one direction, they are never provided as a packaged mystery trading system, and they are never based upon anything that could be interpreted as a gimmick. Professional trading techniques and trading systems are always based upon the underlying principles of financial market price movement, and professional trading techniques and trading systems are the only method of financial market analysis and trading that have the ability to be consistently profitable (hence the reason that they are used by professional traders).

10 Pips Simple Trading System

Published on: Senin, 18 November 2013 in ,
First Thank's To the creator, especially, Mladen from TSD, This is a very simple trade strategy, look at the trend with Mladen Stoch's, start it from the higher Time Frame ( Set it up in our minds if it's the biggest trend OB/OS don't fight  !!! ), then take the correction on the smallest TF.

2-3 times trade/day is more than enough, set the TP between 7-12 pips ( Mid Bands or before under/upper Deviation area ) Or Close it manually, place the stop loss under/upper the deviations area.

Patience and Discipline gonna pay you...

Pola BB

Published on: Kamis, 07 Maret 2013 in , ,

Scalping - Intraday Tehnik 3 (Sabar Boss)

Published on: Rabu, 13 Februari 2013 in , , , ,

Kenapa gak moment-moment terbaik koreksi dimaximalkan sambil nunggu TP terjauh ( Target Swing Trade ) dapet he he he kan mayan bisa nambah equity, bisa di Wede malahan mah buat nambah2 resiko dapur wkwkwkwkw.

  Sukses

Update:

Tuhkan Turun.. he he he kalau mau bisa aja kita colosed manual :D mayan kan 20 pips :D coba kali 1 lotnya $ 1 aja kan mayan he he he he,,sabar sabar sabar disiplin disiplin disiplin mas Bro he he he

Scalping ( Intraday ) Tehnik 2

D1-W1 Trend strong Down, namun jika 1M mentok dalam logic batasan tetep aja akan ada pantulan, mentok lagi 5M nya ada lagi pantulan he he he
Jadi itu kali ya yang dibilang orang "Two Way Side Opportunites", pemanfaatan pola koreksi dalam TF per TF yang sedang koreksi sebelum menyelesaikan Trend di TF tertentu he he he

Pounds Trapping

Published on: Minggu, 10 Februari 2013 in , ,

I have been a forex trader since more years. From time to time I still trade, but my trading times have increasingly droped since I feel its more and more boring waiting for the market to give you a proper signal all day. The main reason why I am writting this article is because I do not like to sit behind my desk all day. So I have deiceided to give it to all of you who want to benefit from it. Price for my system was three hundred dollars, but due the relativity of success in the forex market I now have deiceided to give away my system information for free. Winning the forex market depends 70% on the trader, the other 30% is the system, so I think it was not fair selling my system even if it has a high probability rate. If you win or lose depends a lot on your personality and feelings so one might lose even if he has the best system in the world. The system was designed during carefull analysis of the market in the time of more than six months. It does not need any improving, nor changing. It is fully optimized for trading, so do not attempt to change any indicators or settings! Pentingnya Sebuah Trading System

Published on: Minggu, 10 April 2011 in ,
Assalamu'alaikum,

Cornflower Trading System 1H-30M

Published on: Kamis, 07 April 2011 in

Though I am a long time lurker on this forum, some of you may know me from elsewhere. Here is a system I have been trading. Additional nuances will follow soon. I eagerly welcome all of your comments (and complaints).

Construct a template according to the following settings:
8 EMA (yellow, dotted)
12 EMA (violet)
24 EMA (cornflower blue, hence the name)
72 EMA (khaki)

Apply to H1 (conservative) only and remove the grid for clarity.

System principles
Cornflower is based on the principle that trades should be taken when the same trend presents itself on multiple timeframes. On an hourly chart, the 24 EMA obviously defines the daily trend. The 8 EMA, which is one-third the length, shows the intraday velocity of “fast” money. A 12 EMA shows the trend of the last half-day. Its value is a place at which price will typically find support when there is a dominant trend. To a lesser extent, this also applies to the 24 EMA. A long-term trend will sometimes catch a breather around this area, with big money accumulating on the opportunity to buy or sell at a substantial discount. Finally, the 72 EMA defines the dominant trend in the market. This trend will reassert itself as cumulative memory persuades traders to resume trading in its direction. If the three shorter-term averages are above the 72 EMA, we are in an uptrend and should not go short. The same applies in reverse for a downtrend.

Cornflower can be used in a number of ways by all kinds of traders. When price pulls back to the area between the 12 and 24 EMAs, the opportunity for a short- to medium-term bounce presents itself. We can enter and set a profit target based on a number of criteria, be they support and resistance areas, pivot points, or a set pip amount. Or we can enter a longer-term trade, perhaps exiting when the 12 EMA crosses down below the 24 EMA. The longer-term setups in this system are powerful and can yield hundreds of pips on a single trade that will last for up to two weeks. Cornflower will catch every major move in the market, providing multiple opportunities to take advantage of a big trend and pretend that one is a bank trader.

Basic System Rules

(Note 11/27/08: I no longer take signals from the initial "aggressive" 30M entry. Use at your own risk.)

There are two kinds of entries using this system: pullback (conservative) and initial (aggressive). The pullback entry, which is the heart of this system, enters the market when conditions are quiet and after price has settled into the area between the 8 and 24 EMAs. The timing of this entry can either be mechanical (using either the 12 or 24 EMA) or discretionary in accordance with the trader’s judgment on whether price is moving back in the direction of the trend.

The initial entry aims to capitalize on the first movement of a new trend, defined by a thrust beyond the 72 EMA that is confirmed by a turnaround in the shorter EMAs. It is more risky because there is always the possibility of a reversal. For this reason, it is probably better to use the M30 chart for this type of entry. Moved up by 30 minutes, one has the opportunity to take a small profit or scratch a trade at or near break-even if a reversal presents itself.

Only the H1 and M30 charts should be used with the Cornflower template. Shorter time periods will lead to whipsaws, whereas longer time periods lag behind the market too much.

The following rules are valid no matter the time of day. The quiet of the Asian session actually provides some excellent opportunities for entry, which is a boon for the trader whose day job makes watching the market during London or New York an impossibility.

Pullback (conservative) entry – use hourly chart
·8, 12, and 24 EMAs are all above (long) or below (short) the 72 EMA
·Price has pulled back to the 12 or 24 EMA (the more aggressive the trend, the more shallow the pullback.
·Enter for 20 pips, or hold depending on trader’s judgment of the strength of the trend.

Initial (aggressive) entry – use M30 chart with identical indicators
·Price has moved with authority above or below the 72 EMA. By “moved with authority,” I mean a candle that has closed near the top of its range.
·8, 12, 24 EMAs are all pointed in the direction of price, and preferably already stacked in a perfect order (8 over 12 over 24 for long, 24 over 12 over 8 for short).
·Enter for 20 pips and hold if the thrust develops into a real trend.

Using hourly and half-hourly charts, 20 pips is a realistic initial profit target, especially if one is trading GBPUSD, GBPJPY, or EURJPY. Even the other major pairs should yield this much on a properly gauged signal. By “major,” I mean EURUSD, USDCHF, AUDUSD, USDJPY, NZDUSD, and USDCAD. With the possible exception of EURGBP, any pair that involves two of the seven major currencies should be tradable with this system. Cornflower is particularly well-suited for entering long positions on the yen crosses (carry trades).

Entries may be timed more precisely with a 5M timeframe. More on this later.
